The Peruvian Government welcomed the progress registered in the process to achieve lasting peace in the Gaza Strip.

Likewise, it expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire, the initial humanitarian actions, and the release of hostages agreed upon by the parties involved.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peru recognized the "mediation efforts carried out by the United States, with the support of the United Nations, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye, as well as other international actors, whose joint commitment has allowed for channeling efforts toward peace."

The Peruvian government highlighted that these measures represent significant steps toward alleviating the humanitarian situation faced by the population of Gaza after more than two years of conflict.

Humanitarian assistance

The statement also praised the commitment of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to increase food, water, medical, housing, and infrastructure assistance through UN agencies in the zone.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these international efforts are essential to address the urgent needs of the civilian population and to foster the conditions necessary to consolidate stability in the region.

Lastly, Peru reiterated its "conviction that a lasting and just solution to the conflict will be possible through the coexistence of two states, living peacefully within recognized and secure borders," in accordance with the principles of international law, the relevant United Nations resolutions, and the UN Charter.
