19:00 | Lima, Jan. 25.

A total of 30 professional volunteers from the United States will arrive in Trujillo to enhance the management of development projects in different sectors, by virtue of the renewed agreement between the Regional Government (Gore) of La Libertad and the international cooperation agency known as the Peace Corps.

The decision was made at a recent meeting between Gore-La Libertad officials and the international service organization, which will manage the arrival of U.S. volunteers to be distributed among the different management departments.

The contribution of said volunteers will be focused on four programs: Community Economic Development; Community Health Promotion; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; and Youth Development, with a focus on sustainable development.

The Regional Manager of Technical Cooperation and Promotion of Private Investment, Victor Cruzado Rivera, reported that the expenses incurred by these volunteers will be covered by the Peace Corps.

Who are the volunteers?

The volunteers are U.S. citizens aged between 21 and 80 years committed to serving communities. They have university-level education and experience in coordinating work with community partners who support the development of communities.

The meeting was chaired by the coordinator of the Peace Corps in La Libertad, Juan Ahon; while the Gore-La Libertad side was represented by managers of Technical Cooperation and Promotion of Private Investment; Housing, Construction and Sanitation; and Development and Social Inclusion; as well as representatives of the Regional Management Departments of Health and Education.
