The Peruvian Government on Saturday evening strongly condemned the acts of violence perpetrated against the former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump —within the framework of his electoral campaign events.

Likewise, it expressed condolences for the fatal victim, as well as solidarity with the families of those affected and the American people.

"Peru wishes for the prompt recovery of candidate Trump and the other people who may have been injured," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué.

As is known, the events occurred on Saturday afternoon when the Republican Party candidate was leading a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Gunshots were heard while he was giving a speech. The former U.S. president touched his right ear before being surrounded by Secret Service agents and escorted away from the venue.
