Ministers from various portfolios arrived in Lima's eastern Chosica area to carry out an inspection of the zones affected by landslides given heavy rains, as well as to evaluate immediate actions.
The delegation was composed of Ministers Jorge Chavez Cresta (Defense), Paola Lazarte (Transportation-Communications), Hania Perez de Cuellar (Housing-Construction-Sanitation), and Raul Perez Reyes (Production).
Within this framework, Minister Chavez Cresta reported that the Council of Ministers has been monitoring the situation at the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) since the early morning, as there was the possibility that rivers would overcome the red threshold in various basins. However, that did not occur.
"The balance of Chosica is that there is no loss of human life, there are no serious or severe impacts. There was a total activation in the basins, a total of 32 ravines have developed," he told reporters.
The Defense minister reported that water is supplied and homes are provided with safety by cleaning up the ravines —supported by heavy machinery.
"Various strategies are being assessed to guarantee the population's well-being," he added.
Afterwards, the Cabinet members arrived at the Mariscal Castilla ravine —one of the most vulnerable areas in the district.
There, government officials inspected the channeling works carried out by 40 members of the Armed Forces' Special Forces Brigade —supported by two tipper trucks and one backhoe.
