Peru showcases its world-class tourism offerings at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2026, held from January 21 to 25 in Madrid, Spain, with the participation of 30 Peruvian companies led by Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Teresa Mera.

The Peruvian offering highlights unique experiences in nature, adventure, culture, and gastronomy at this key event for promoting the South American country among the world's leading outbound and inbound tourism markets.

Peru's participation stands out with a high-impact pavilion, specially designed to captivate the European market and position the country as a safe, diverse, and highly competitive destination.

Within this space, 30 national companies showcase unique experiences in nature, adventure, culture, and gastronomy, reaffirming our country as a sustainable, authentic, and highly competitive destination for the Spanish and broader European markets.

Thus, the Peru Pavilion establishes itself as one of the fair's standout attractions, thanks to its cultural and gastronomic activations, which highlight the richness of our traditions, ancestral knowledge, and living cultural expressions.

Among the flagship proposals is the "Ruta de Leon" (Pope Leo's Route), an experience that weaves together history, identity, and unforgettable memories, reflecting the spirit of a country that moves, inspires, and leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.

Official agenda

The official agenda of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) at FITUR 2026 includes high-level meetings with strategic partners such as UN Tourism, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), as well as with tourism authorities from Spain, Chile, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic, among others.

These meetings aim to strengthen international cooperation, consolidate strategic partnerships, and open up new investment opportunities for the tourism sector.

In addition, a series of specialized meetings and academic conferences will be held aimed at building confidence among the international tourism trade, strengthening strategic partnerships, and promoting new opportunities for cooperation and investment in the tourism sector.

Peru's presence at FITUR takes on particular significance given that the 2025 edition of the fair generated business potential exceeding US$21 million for the country, reaffirming the event's positive impact on tourism promotion and on boosting the national economy.

"With Peru's participation in FITUR 2026, we consolidate the country's image as a world-class, diverse, and sustainable tourism destination," Minister Mera stated.

"We strengthen our ties with the main outbound markets, build confidence within the international tourism value chain, and open up new opportunities for growth and investment in the sector," she underscored.
