The plenary session of the Senate on Wednesday approved
's travel authorization to El Salvador, where she is scheduled to meet with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, and to Spain, where she will participate in the 30th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The legislative proposal submitted by the Executive Branch was approved with 37 votes in favor, 11 against, and one abstention.
The Head of State will travel to the cities of San Salvador and the municipality of Tecoluca, in the Republic of El Salvador, from October 28 to 31, 2026, for an official visit to that country.
The top official will then travel to Madrid, Spain, from November 2 to 6, 2026.
In El Salvador, the President will make an official visit that includes a private meeting with her counterpart, an expanded meeting with State ministers, and a visit to the maximum-security prison known as the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), among other activities.
Meanwhile, in Spain, Peru's top official will attend the plenary session of the 30th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, protocol events, and bilateral meetings with heads of state and government or other senior officials.
She will also attend sessions of the Business Meeting held on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero-American Summit.
