The
Ministry of Health (Minsa) has started distributing the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to protect healthcare workers on the frontline against the pandemic.
A total of 61,283 vaccines will be delivered in Lima and Callao, while 90,336 will be sent to regions starting February 25.
In addition, the doses will be sent to the following hospitals: Alberto Sabogal Sologuren, Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz, Sergio E. Bernales, San Bartolome, Santa Rosa, Edgardo Rebagliati, Guillermo Almenara, as well as the National Maternal Perinatal Institute and the National Institute of Child Health in Breña district (INSN-Breña).
Distribution in regions
Meanwhile —with the support of the
National Police of Peru (PNP) and the Armed Forces— the doses will be distributed to 13 regions across the country (Amazonas, Ancash, Piura, Loreto, Cajamarca, Apurimac, Arequipa, La Libertad, Ica, Lambayeque, Junin, Huancavelica, and Pasco), starting February 25.
Likewise, on February 26, the vaccines will be sent to Huanuco, Madre de Dios, Tacna, Tumbes, Ayacucho, Cusco, San Martin, Loreto, Puno, Ucayali, Lima region, as well as a batch to Pasco.
The vaccines are being transported to warehouses of Regional Health Directorates (Diresa) or Regional Health Management Offices (GERESAs) from where they will be distributed to healthcare facilities using a cold supply chain.
Thus, Minsa ensures health personnel protection against COVID-19 (with a two-dose regime), following the arrival of the first million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine on February 7 and 13.
