The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru), in its commitment to promoting Peruvian exports, organized the Business Meeting of Coffee Producers in Jaen 2023 from August 27 to 31.

The commercial platform resulted in an average of US$11.3 million in negotiations, of which US$766,000 was finalized, with the rest expected within 12 months.

This achievement is due to more than 240 business meetings that 37 exporting companies from coffee-producing regions such as Cajamarca, Amazonas, San Martin, and Junin held with foreign representatives.

In recent years, Peruvian coffee has made its mark in the world's major markets due to its unique characteristics of origin, flavor, and aroma, as well as the efforts of over 236,000 producers dedicated to this sector.

Thus, Peru has become the world's top exporter and producer of organic coffee and ranks ninth in arabica coffee.

The 17 international buyers from Spain, China, the United States, France, Japan, Taiwan, Chile, and Canada highlighted the global interest in Peru's coffee sector, especially since 95% of the product is cultivated by small-scale farmers, and our country possesses 48.1% of the certified area in Latin America.

It is worth noting that during their stay, foreign visitors visited various farms in the region. This experience allowed them to participate in the coffee production process in a 360-degree format, from cultivation to the cup.

Due to the success of this initiative, PromPeru announced that it will seek to replicate it within the framework of Ficafe —an important event in the sector to be held in November in Puno.

PromPeru strategically works with the goal of promoting the Peruvian offer worldwide, as well as internationalizing Peruvian companies and cooperatives, strengthening their capabilities through its regional offices and linking them with importers identified by commercial offices abroad.
