Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Jose Reyes said on Friday that Peru registered 3.4 million international tourists in 2025 and projected four million visitors for this year.

The government official highlighted that one of the most significant gains has been in foreign exchange earnings, which have surpassed pre-pandemic levels and are directly contributing to growth.

The Cabinet member emphasized that the government continues advancing a strategy to diversify the tourism offering, including segments such as meetings, religious, nature, and adventure tourism, expanding development opportunities for Peruvian regions.

Tourism investment

Minister Reyes indicated that the government continues to advance strategic projects that will strengthen the country's tourism offering, describing it as an investment boost in tourism infrastructure projects amounting to US$3.4 billion.

The high-ranking official explained that the Choquequirao cable car project alone involves an investment of approximately S/937 million (about US$271 million) and is already making concrete progress in its execution.

"We already have a final version of the contract and are in the selection process to finalize it, award the contract, and sign it," he said, adding that the project is expected to be signed during this administration.
