Peru, through the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI), proposed at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) High-Level Conference directing global assistance toward each country's productive transformation so that economic growth translates into well-being and greater opportunities.

The proposal was presented during the event "The Future of Development Cooperation: Charting Strategic Directions," organized by the OECD in France from May 11 to 12.

Noela Pantoja, APCI Executive Director and a panelist at the conference, proposed harnessing the transformative potential of innovation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence in the design and implementation of cooperation programs.

"Promoting productive transformation, technology transfer, and the strengthening of digital capabilities as cross-cutting elements for sustainable development and the well-being of the population," she stated.

Likewise, Pantoja said cooperation cannot be limited to mobilizing resources; it must generate capabilities, resilience, and tangible results for people.

The purpose of this, she noted, is to effectively contribute to improving quality of life, strengthening public services, and responding to global challenges that directly affect the population.

The event, which featured presentations and interactive roundtable discussions, brought together political leaders, senior officials, experts, private sector representatives, and civil society members from around the world.

Separately, the APCI executive director held a bilateral meeting with Julia Benn, Head of Secretariat at the International Forum on Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (IFT-TOSSD), ahead of the body's Steering Committee meeting and General Assembly. The event will take place in Lima in October 2026.
