Peru's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ignacio Higueras on Tuesday opened the Fifth Pacific Alliance Cooperation Forum in Lima under the leadership of the Presidency Pro Tempore of the Pacific Alliance.

Moreover, the government official announced the publication of "Opportunities for cooperation with the Pacific Alliance: a view of the work done by technical groups."

In his speech, the deputy minister stated that this forum addressed five key thematic areas: well-being, social inclusion, and development; gender equality and women's empowerment; creative and cultural industries; boost to small and medium-sized enterprises; and sustainable management of fertilizers.

"Our purpose is to promote a dynamic dialogue that will allow us to present concrete projects, identify opportunities for joint work, and identify the course of action for its materialization," he remarked.

During the activity, Higueras emphasized that the first edition of the Pacific Alliance Cooperation Forum took place in Lima back in 2019, also under the Presidency Pro Tempore of Peru.

"Today, five years later, in a world marked by increasingly complex challenges, international cooperation emerges as a fundamental pillar to achieve our common goals," he pointed out.

The projects presented at the forum, upon the moderation of CAF —a strategic ally of the Pacific Alliance— are the following: "Virtual cultural training program to strengthen the marketing stage for undertakings involving agents from cultural and creative industries," and the "Platform for providing information, guidance, and accompaniment to promote development and inclusion of poor and vulnerable people: INFOSOCIAL."

The list also includes "Development of a manual to facilitate the participation of rural and indigenous women in international markets," "Reassessment of ancient knowledge and promotion of new technologies in the management of soil and fertilizers for family farming producers across the Pacific Alliance countries," and "Strengthening capacities of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the Pacific Alliance to facilitate their participation in the cross-border e-commerce."
