Presidential candidate Mesias Guevara, representing the Partido Morado (Purple Party), cast his vote at the Universidad de Lima in Lima's Santiago de Surco district on Sunday.

After leaving the polling place, the candidate urged citizens to take part in the democratic process represented by the general elections.

He expressed support for the decision by the National Elections Board (JNE) to extend voting hours due to difficulties in transporting electoral materials.

"Come out to vote and take part in this democratic process for the benefit of our country," Guevara said.

He is one of 35 candidates seeking the Presidency of the Republic.

According to the electoral roll of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), more than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote at 92,766 polling tables nationwide, in a process that marks the return to a bicameral Congress.

In this electoral process, voters will elect the President, vice presidents, members of the bicameral Congress (Senate and Chamber of Deputies), and representatives to the Andean Parliament.

As is known, the 2026 election day began this Sunday at 7:00 a.m. nationwide and ran until 6:00 p.m., during which citizens went to the polls to choose the country's new national authorities.
