Peru: Presidential candidate Jose Williams casts vote

Presidential candidate Jose Williams, representing Avanza Pais (Go On Country) cast his vote on Sunday in, as part of the 2026 General Elections.

The aspirant arrived at IEP Maria Reiche (School), located in Lima’s San Borja district.

Williams is one of 35 contenders seeking the Presidency of the Republic.

Earlier, the Avanza Pais candidate took part in his electoral breakfast, on Morelli Street in San Borja district, as part of his agenda for election day.

His presidential ticket includes Adriana Tuleda as first vice-presidential candidate and Fernan Altuve as second vice-presidential candidate. Together, they will await the official results of the election.

According to the electoral roll from Reniec, more than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote at 92,766 polling tables nationwide, in a process that marks the return to a bicameral Congress.

The 2026 election day began this Sunday at 7:00 a.m. across the country and will run until 6:00 p.m., during which citizens go to the polls to choose new national authorities.
