Presidential candidate Jorge Nieto, representing the Partido del Buen Gobierno (Good Governance Party), cast his vote on Sunday, April 12, within the framework of the 2026 General Elections.

The aspirant arrived to vote at Victor A. Belaunde Diez Canseco School at 9:40 a.m. There, Nieto was assigned to polling table No. 47053.

He reached the polling place accompanied by his family, in a calm atmosphere with a short line of voters.

Dressed in a light blue shirt and light-colored trousers, the candidate stood in line like any other citizen.

Before entering the voting booth, he showed his ballot to media cameras.

Prior to heading to the polls, the candidate held a breakfast meeting with members of his party and neighbors from southern Lima, where he resides, as part of his schedule on election day.

After casting his vote, Nieto called for respect for the results of the electoral process.

Likewise, he emphasized the importance of democracy as a mechanism for resolving differences.

He also stressed that it is the responsibility of the National Elections Board (JNE) to guarantee the vote count, while candidates must fulfill their duty of turning proposals into public policies.

In that regard, the candidate underscored that the day should unfold with "peace, calm, and respect for the people's decision," as he urged citizens to vote responsibly.

According to the voter registry of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), more than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote at 92,766 polling tables nationwide, in an election marking the return to a bicameral Congress.

Voting began nationwide at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 6:00 p.m., during which citizens can go to the polls to choose new national authorities.
