Peru: Presidential candidate Cesar Acuña casts vote

Presidential candidate Cesar Acuna Peralta, representing Alianza para el Progreso (Alliance for Progress), cast his vote Sunday in Trujillo province, as part of the 2026 General Elections taking place nationwide.

The candidate voted at Educational Institution No. 80820 Victor Larco, located in Victor Larco Herrera district, Trujillo province, La Libertad region.

His participation was part of his official agenda during the election day, as authorities and candidates nationwide continue to fulfill their civic duty in their respective jurisdictions.

Accompanying him on the presidential ticket are Jessica Tumi Rivas, running for first vice president, and Alejandro Soto Reyes, running for second vice president. They are expected to await the official results of the election.

According to the electoral roll of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), more than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote at a total of 92,766 polling tables installed nationwide, in an electoral process marking the return to a bicameral Congress.

In this election, voters will choose the President, vice presidents, members of the bicameral Congress (Senate and Chamber of Deputies), and representatives to the Andean Parliament.

The 2026 election day began Sunday at 7:00 a.m. across the country and will continue until 6:00 p.m., during which citizens can head to polling stations to elect new national authorities.
