Peru: Presidential candidate Carlos Jaico casts vote

Presidential candidate Carlos Jaico, representing Peru Moderno (Modern Peru party), cast his vote in Lima's San Isidro district on Sunday, as part of the 2026 General Elections.

The aspirant went to vote at the Reina de la Paz Parochial School.

Jaico is one of 35 candidates running for the Presidency of the Republic.

Earlier, the Peru Moderno nominee took part in his electoral breakfast, as scheduled for the day.

On the presidential ticket, he is joined by Miguel Almenara as first vice-presidential candidate and Liz Quispe as second vice-presidential candidate. Together, they will await the official results of election day.

According to the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), more than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote at 92,766 polling tables nationwide, in a process that marks the return to a bicameral Congress.

The 2026 election day began at 07:00 a.m. across the country and will run until 6:00 p.m., during which citizens can go to the polls to choose new national authorities.
