The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday departed for the United States to participate in the IX Summit of the Americas taking place in the city of Los Angeles (California) on June 6-10.

"We left for the United States to bring positive news in favor of Peru and the integration of the peoples at the Summit of the Americas," Mr. Castillo expressed via his official Twitter account.

The Head of State —who is joined by First Lady Lilia Paredes— affirmed that the event will allow the Government to strengthen multilateral solutions against the food crisis, poverty, insecurity, and inequalities.

"We are at a crucial moment for the world due to post-pandemic events and the war between Russia and Ukraine," he added.

The Peruvian President will participate, along with his counterparts from across the continent, in a meeting to be held in Los Angeles titled "Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future."

Similarly, the top official will be present at the
Fourth CEO Summit of the Americas.

In addition, he will participate in a meeting with the youth of the hemisphere, among other activities.

These include bilateral meetings with counterparts from the region. Meetings with U.S. businesspeople are also expected.

Said events seek to strengthen the international projection of Peru's foreign policy and boost the country's economic reactivation, promoting exports and investments.
