Peru: President Jeri honors badminton medalists at 20th Bolivarian Games

The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, attended the 20th Bolivarian Games Ayacucho–Lima 2025 and awarded the gold medal to Ines Castillo, from the Peruvian Sports Institute's (IPD) Lima 2027 Program.

Castillo took first place in the women's singles event at Videna Sports Complex 2 in the Peruvian capital.

The Head of State was joined by IPD Chairman Sergio Ludeña, and Peruvian Fencing Federation Head, Angel Garcia.

The top official congratulated Peruvian athletes, including Maria Luisa Doig, gold medalist in women's individual épée.

Castillo was crowned champion after defeating Colombian Juliana Giraldo (2–0), securing another gold medal for Peru.

In badminton, members of the IPD's Athlete Support Program (PAD) won a total of eight medals, including Castillo's.

Silver medals were also won thanks to Adriano Viale in men's singles; Sharum Durand and Brian Roque in men's doubles; the pair Namie Miyahira and Jose Guevara in mixed doubles; and in the mixed team event.

Bronze medals were claimed by Namie Miyahira in singles; Ines Castillo and Namie Miyahira in women's doubles; plus Adriano Viale and Jose Guevara in men's doubles.

The 20th Bolivarian Games Ayacucho–Lima 2025 continue across their various venues, featuring participation from 17 countries and 41 sports disciplines.

The IPD reaffirms its commitment to promoting and developing national sports.
