on Thursday inspected the operation and the technified irrigation process for the production of coffee at Niño Jesus (Child Jesus) Farm located in Marona population center belonging to Moyobamba.
The event took place within the framework of the exchange of experiences at the Global Meeting for Climate, the Amazon, and Tropical Forests.
Currently, the farm is considered the largest coffee producer in San Martin region and relies on huge exports outlook.
It consists of seven hectares for coffee production and yields 150 quintals of coffee per hectare.
During his tour, the Head of State verified the development of modernized irrigation and the use of solar panels —friendly techniques that help preserve the environment. They are expected to be replicated in other countries in favor of the Amazonia.
Within this framework, the farm owner's son, Santos Acha Chavez, indicated that said undertaking has a photovoltaic system consisting of 16 solar panels that prevent any type of contamination during the coffee production process and serves for protecting the land as it is clean energy.
This technique dispenses with the use of fuel, gas, or other hydrocarbons that pollute the environment.
The top official participated in some parts of the production process, such as the roasting and grinding of coffee, as well as the selection of some beans.
Besides, he took the opportunity to explain the knowledge acquired as a farmer —having worked in this sector in his native Cajamarca region.
President Castillo participated in said inspection joined by San Martin Governor Pedro Bogarin, regional and district authorities, plus workers from Niño Jesus Farm.
