Peru President: I don't see a situation to return to quarantine

16:54 | Lima, Jul. 16.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday said that he does not see any situation to impose a quarantine, highlighting the existence of civic awareness in the population, which respects the health regulations decreed by the Government to contain the spread of COVID-19.

In remarks to Radio Americana, the Head of State affirmed that —based on the statistical and scientific information he receives— he does not see that the current situation will lead the country to return to compulsory social isolation for all.

From his point of view, the quarantine has been useful because it taught Peruvians new ways of acting and new rules of behavior, which are being implemented.

In this sense, top official highlighted the use of face masks in the streets, the improvement of food markets infrastructure, and respect for social distancing measures.

"There is civic awareness. This type of behavior will serve to avoid considering a future quarantine," he expressed.
