The
affirmed that the Government will ensure the care and protection of the minor aged 11 years, from Loreto region, who was victim of rape.
The Head of State visited the National Maternal Perinatal Institute (INMP) to talk with the physician who is in charge of the little girl's health.
"In a democratic and respectful society, we cannot allow violence against female minors, against male minors, or against women. She (Mila) is not alone. As the Government, we will continue to accompany girls and boys so that they (children) are not vulnerable any longer from now on," she underlined.
Mrs. Boluarte urged the Judiciary to reverse the sentence that led to the release of the person who had allegedly assaulted the girl. Similarly, the top official requested his immediate capture.
"What other evidence can the Judiciary ask for? The Prosecutor's Office has already acted, the Prosecutor's Office requested his arrest; I don't know why the Judiciary has released him. They (judges) must be firmer when they have to make decisions. What other evidence does the Judiciary need in order to act?" she pointed out.
The minor was transferred from the northeastern city of Iquitos to the National Maternal Perinatal Institute (INMP) in Lima —the highest sexual and reproductive health entity in Peru— where she receives specialized care, the
Health Ministry (Minsa) reported on Sunday.
