is conducting an aerial survey of the Cusco region today to oversee the Government's response efforts to wildfires, as well as assess the situation in areas affected by these emergencies.
On her 20th working trip, the President is accompanied by Ministers Rafael Belaunde (Defense) and Marco Vinelli (Agrarian Development and Irrigation), with whom she is coordinating the interventions aimed at controlling the fires.
Upon her arrival in Cusco, the Head of State was received by a delegation headed by Region Governor Werner Salcedo.
As part of the measures ordered by President Fujimori, two helicopters equipped with water buckets will remain in Cusco until November to reinforce firefighting efforts.
These operations prioritize tackling the wildfire reported in Calca Province, which was identified in a previous assessment as posing the greatest risk, followed by the blaze in Puycura district, Anta province.
The Executive Branch, in coordination with the Regional Government, firefighters, the Armed Forces, and the public, continues to monitor these emergencies amid windy and dry conditions and the preparation of agricultural land, factors that can contribute to the spread of wildfires.
Peruvian Air Force operations
The Peruvian Air Force (FAP) reported that it resumed aerial operations against wildfires in Calca Province on October 12 at 5:00 a.m., deploying a C-27J Spartan aircraft equipped with the Guardian system and an Mi-17 helicopter fitted with a water bucket to drop water over the Accha Baja sector.
According to the institution, these operations aim to curb the spread of the blaze.
They also aim to facilitate the work of firefighters, military personnel, and firefighting crews battling the flames in hard-to-reach areas. The operations will continue as long as the wildfire remains active.
