The President of the Republic of Peru, Jose Jeri, held a phone conversation with Costa Rica's President-elect Laura Fernandez, congratulating her on the broad public support she received in her country's recent elections.

"The Head of State wished her greatest success in her upcoming administration," the Presidential Office stated via social media.

Both sides reaffirmed the strong friendship bonds between their countries.

Likewise, the two countries discussed mutual support for their respective accession processes to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Pacific Alliance.

They also addressed the fight against transnational organized crime and the actions Peru has been carrying out in coordination with friendly countries in the region.

President Jeri was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela during the phone conversation.
