The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo will travel to Switzerland from May 21 to 27 to take part in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting to be held in the city of Davos.

Legislative Resolution No. 31475, which authorizes his trip, was published on Saturday by the Congress of the Republic in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

This provision was approved with 96 votes in favor last Thursday during a Congress plenary session.

In addition to participating in WEF's Annual Assembly, to be held on May 24 and 25, the Head of State will also hold related work meetings on May 23.

The legislative resolution provides that President Castillo will be able to interact with important world and regional leaders, as well as with senior international executives.

It added that among the issues to be addressed are the Peruvian Government's priorities, such as the response to COVID-19, post-pandemic economic reactivation, as well as inequality around the world and at the national level.

Moreover, he will address the strengthening of the resilience in the global health system and will participate in dialogues on education improvement, sustainable development of the Amazonia, and digital transformation in Latin America, among others.

Similarly, work meetings are expected to be held at related events so as to learn about the Swiss experience in the development of infrastructure and agrarian development.
