The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday affirmed that citizen security is everyone's task.

Thus, the top official asked the Public Ministry and the Judicial Branch not to release criminals detained by the Peruvian National Police.

"I believe that the issue of crime and delinquency is not only (a task) for the National Police, but also for all citizens; that is why I call on the Public Ministry and the Judiciary so that those criminals captured by our police won't be released," she expressed.

Mrs. Boluarte cited the case of those Venezuelan citizens located in a bunker in Lima's Pachacamac district and detained, but who were later released, despite the indignation expressed by the Peruvian National Police.

The Head of State recalled that, after being released, three of those suspects injured two law enforcement agents during a police operation aimed at arresting them in San Juan de Lurigancho district, also in Lima.

Therefore, Mrs. Boluarte said the question about what is being done to combat delinquency and organized crime must also be extended to other sectors in order to take the work against citizen insecurity seriously.

"We all have to stand united against this other scourge that affects society," she pointed out.

This event took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
