The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday announced the declaration of emergency for the (foreign) border areas of Tumbes, Piura, Cajamarca, Amazonas, Loreto, Madres de Dios, and Tacna regions.

This measure was announced during a press conference held at the Lima-based Government Palace after a Council of Ministers session.

"A supreme decree has been approved that declares a state of emergency for the border areas of Tumbes, Piura, Cajamarca, Amazonas, Loreto, Madre de Dios, and Tacna regions," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

The Head of State explained that this declaration will allow the implementation of police operations related to border control so as to preserve domestic order and constitutional rights.

Likewise, the top official specified that the Peruvian National Police will maintain control of domestic order supported by the Armed Forces.

Peace and dialogue

President Boluarte specified that her administration ensures tranquility, peace, and dialogue with all Peruvians, since the Executive Branch has always the willingness to have its "doors open" to all sectors, governors, mayors, and all citizens who want to talk about government management.

"However, we have seen that day by day our cities are not far from citizen insecurity, individual or organized crime, criminal gangs, violence, and criminality that grows day by day," she said.

Therefore, the top official announced various measures in order to have better control over foreign citizens in Peru.
