The
President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, held an audience with the
European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) Chief Observer, European Parliament Member, Annalisa Corrado, who is on an initial visit to Peru.

the Presidential Office reported that the meeting was also attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela, who was ratified as a member of the new Cabinet on Tuesday afternoon.
The Head of State welcomed the acceptance of Peru's invitation for the deployment of the EU EOM.
Likewise, the top official emphasized the firm support that the Transitional Government has been providing to national electoral bodies in order to guarantee free and transparent elections.
The Presidential Office added that the electoral process in the country is being conducted without any undue interference, in line with international standards. At the same time, it welcomed the EU's support.
This event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
This electoral process will allow Peruvians to go to the polls to elect the next President of the Republic, Vice Presidents, Senators, Deputies, and Representatives to the Andean Parliament.
The General Elections will be held on April 12, 2026, with a potential runoff for the presidential race scheduled for June 7 of the same year.
