The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, led a new Council of Ministers session on Wednesday.

At this event, various measures to benefit the country were assessed and approved.

Among the measures adopted were initiatives aimed at disaster preparedness, closing social gaps, national security, and strengthening Peru's presence abroad.

"Among the main agreements, the state of emergency was extended in districts across 21 regions due to the imminent danger posed by heavy rainfall, and the National Multisectoral Potable Water and Sanitation Policy through 2050 was approved to guarantee quality basic services," the Presidential Office reported on X.

Likewise, the Cabinet declared the creation of two new districts in the Amazonas region to be of national interest.

It also ordered the extension of the state of emergency in Tacna and Tarata to maintain internal order, among other decisions.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Luis Arroyo did not participate in the meeting, as he is in France to take part in a series of activities related to Peru's accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
