Peru: President Balcazar and State ministers land in Arequipa to address the emergency

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, Prime Minister Denisse Miralles, and State ministers arrived in Arequipa on Wednesday morning to address the emergency caused by intense rainfall in this southern Peruvian region.


"President Jose Maria Balcazar, along with Prime Minister Denisse Miralles and State ministers, is traveling to Arequipa to address firsthand the emergency caused by intense rainfall affecting the region," the Presidential Office stated.

The PCM head announced the Council of Ministers has declared a state of emergency in 707 districts across several Peruvian regions due to heavy rainfall.

In addition, a ministerial resolution has declared the land transportation service under a state of emergency along several sections of national highways located in Arequipa, Ica, Piura, and Tumbes due to damage to road infrastructure.
