Peru: President and Foreign Affairs Minister meet with OAS Observation Mission Head

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela, held an audience with Organization of American States (OAS) Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) Chief Victor Rico.

Rico is making a preliminary visit to the country ahead of the General Elections on April 12.

"The President stressed that the transitional government has been providing all necessary support to national electoral authorities so as to guarantee the conditions for free and transparent elections, without any undue interference, in line with international standards," the Presidential Office stated on X.

Likewise, the Head of State underscored his commitment to guaranteeing respect for the will of the people in next April's General Elections.

The top official welcomed the acceptance of Peru's invitation to deploy the OAS Electoral Observation Mission.

This meeting took place at the Government Palace in Lima.

As is known, Members of the OAS EOM are conducting a preliminary visit to Peru.

Within this framework, they are meeting with various authorities, including the heads of the electoral system bodies such as the National Elections Board (JNE), the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), and the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec).
