The Presidency of the Republic issued a statement expressing its gratitude to Hernando de Soto for his willingness to collaborate with the government.
In a message published on X, the Presidential Office highlighted De Soto's intellectual record, describing it as a contribution to the country.
"Economist Hernando de Soto presented a valuable and ambitious government plan; however, it was not possible to reach the necessary consensus to materialize it due to the brief and transitional nature of the constitutionally-granted mandate," the statement said.
Likewise, the Presidency expressed its "sincere gratitude for his willingness to collaborate with our government."
It added that "in his capacity as an illustrious and respected economist of international prestige, he will be invited to address specific matters of national interest that Peru will duly recognize."
"His distinguished intellectual career, reflected in landmark works in his field such as El Otro Sendero (The Other Path), among others, constitutes a significant contribution to development and to the national debate," the message concluded.
