on Tuesday urged citizens to promote equal opportunities and people’s development in order to achieve an inclusive society —within the framework of the celebration of World Down Syndrome Day.
Through this message, published on its official Twitter account, the Presidential Office called for awareness for dignified treatment towards people who have this condition.
"Let's raise awareness for dignified treatment! By promoting equal opportunities and the development of people, we will manage that they become part of an inclusive society, in which justice, empathy, humanity, and respect without distinction prevail," it expressed.
In turn, the
Ministry of Justice and Human Rights highlighted
"the inherent dignity and valuable contributions of people with Down syndrome as promoters of the well-being and diversity of Peruvian society."
"It is the obligation of the (Peruvian) State and society to guarantee their human rights, their autonomy, and independence," the government agency expressed via its official Twitter account.
