has indicated that, between January and August this year, US$1.3 billion in projects have already been awarded under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality. The goal is to reach US$10 billion by the end of 2024.
"This is being confirmed with the projects that have been awarded, because there are almost US$1.3 billion in 12 PPP projects that have been awarded, in different sectors, so far this year," he added.
Salardi said there is an interesting portfolio that will continue to be awarded in the coming months and in 2024, which gives concrete signs to draw the interest of private investment.
"Our 2023-2024 goal is close to $10 billion in awarded PPP projects, and that will place these initiatives on an interesting path," he added.
The ProInversion executive-director detailed that among the initiatives to be awarded next year, water, sanitation, real estate, education, electricity, transportation, communications, foreign trade, tourism, and health projects stand out.
What is a PPP?
The official explained that PPP is a partnership involving the (Peruvian) State and one or more private investors, through long-term contracts, so as to ensure sustainable infrastructure.
"PPP is the mechanism that has had the best results to advance the generation of infrastructure and the closing of gaps in sectors such as transportation, sanitation, electrification, and health," Salardi underscored.
"International level operators participate; they guarantee good services and adequate rates for the population," he added.
