08:54 | Lima, Nov. 4.

A persistent drizzle, which began early this morning, has caused flooding on streets and main avenues across several districts in southern Lima, hindering the movement of both pedestrians and vehicles.

In Villa María del Triunfo, the rainfall has led to water accumulation on Heraldos Negros Street, at its intersection with 26 de Noviembre Avenue, where water levels have reached over four centimeters.

This situation creates difficulties for local residents, who must maneuver around puddles to continue their journey. Similarly, vehicles are moving slowly due to the water that has collected on the roadway.

A similar situation is being reported in San Juan de Miraflores and Villa El Salvador, where the persistent drizzle has also caused pooling and disrupted vehicular traffic.

Response in Villa María del Triunfo

In light of this emergency, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML) has deployed six tanker trucks—with a combined capacity of 42,000 gallons—to address the flooding at the Pachacútec bypass in Villa María del Triunfo.

Acting on the instructions of Lima’s mayor, Renzo Reggiardo, and through the municipal agency Emape, crews have been working since early this morning to pump out and drain the accumulated water, aiming to restore traffic flow on this major thoroughfare.

Additionally, the Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER) of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima continues to monitor the situation. Operations in Villa El Salvador

In Villa El Salvador, Sedapal’s "Hidrojet" (high-pressure jetting) crews have been carrying out cleaning operations in various parts of the district since the early hours of today, following an emergency in the sewage system.

According to the information provided, a sewer main collapsed at 2:00 a.m., prompting an intervention by Sedapal teams to address the emergency and facilitate the removal of accumulated water.
