Peru participates at Seafood Expo Global 2022

14:04 | Barcelona (Spain), Apr. 28.

With the participation of 26 exporting firms, Peru showcases its best seafood products to 25,000 professional visitors at Seafood Expo Global 2022, the largest fishing and aquaculture fair in the world, Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported on Thursday.

From April 26 to 28, the 28th edition of the largest international seafood trade show brings the best of the industry to the Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue in Spain for the first time, after many years of being hosted in Brussels, Belgium.

"The presence of our delegation —made up of more than 50 entrepreneurs— at Seafood Expo Global is key to the Peruvian fishing sector's interests, given that the opening of this fair will mark the return of face-to-face events for the global seafood industry," PromPeru Executive-President Amora Carbajal remarked.

"More than 1,500 exhibiting companies from 76 countries are expected to participate this year. The event, which is expected to host 59 national and regional pavilions, will occupy a total of 39,847 square meters," she added.

Peruvian products are displayed under the umbrella of the Super Foods Peru brand, which will make it possible to promote, during the three days of exhibition, their attributes such as sustainability, high quality, and contributions to the good health of consumers, especially from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and new markets in eastern Europe.

The most popular Peruvian products on display include frozen giant squid, shells, prawns, anchovy, squid, mahi-mahi, mackerel, hake, and flying fish eggs.

Moreover, PromPeru lures visitors into a tasting area, where they can sample Peru's flagship dish ceviche, which is seasoned with the personal touch of Peruvian cuisine expert and chef Martha Leng.
