Mining production in Peru is growing steadily. During the first two months of 2024, metals, such as copper, gold, zinc, silver, lead, molybdenum, and tin, registered notable increases over the same period of the previous year, consolidating our country as a world power in mining, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) reported on Wednesday.

According to the Mining Statistical Bulletin (BEM), prepared by Minem's Mining Promotion Directorate, Peruvian copper production registered 216,752 fine metric tons (TMF) last February, which reflects a 12.7% increase compared to the amount recorded in the same month of 2023 (192,379 FMT).

This is due to higher production levels reached by Compañía Minera Antapaccay S.A., Anglo American Quellaveco S.A., and Southern Peru Copper Corporation.

In the accumulated period as of February 2024, an improvement of 5.4% was reported in relation to the similar term of the past year.
