Peru, through the
, on Wednesday recommended that its citizens postpone non-essential travel to Lebanon, Israel, and Iran due to the deterioration of security conditions in the Middle East and the risk of escalation.
It also urged Peruvians who reside or are temporarily in the aforementioned countries to take extreme precautions and travel prudently, as well as to follow the instructions of authorities and stay informed about the evolution of the security situation.
"Similarly, it is recommended to postpone non-essential travel to the aforementioned territories. If possible, it is advised to consider evacuation plans, taking into account available commercial routes," the government agency stated in a communiqué.
Likewise, the ministry suggested that compatriots remain attentive to any information posted on its social media channels and those of the Peruvian Embassies in Israel, Egypt, and Türkiye.
"Peruvian citizens who hold flight tickets to leave the above-mentioned territories in the coming days are advised to reconfirm their travel itineraries with the airlines and stay attentive for any possible changes or cancellations to their flights," the communiqué added.
The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs also clarified that there is no resident Peruvian diplomatic or consular representation in Lebanon or Iran. Therefore, Peruvian citizens in those territories should contact the missions in Egypt and Türkiye, respectively.
