Peru and Mexico agreed to upgrade their existing bilateral ties to a strategic partnership after signing ten broad-based cooperation agreements ranging from education to promotion of mutual investments, it was reported Friday.
The newly-adopted Strategic Partnership Agreement aims to further consolidate the two countries’ friendly relationship on the basis of a new institutional framework.
"The Peru-Mexico strategic partnership is a means of expanding trade and boosting economic cooperation as well of deepening mutual trust," Humala said to an audience gathered at the National Palace in Mexico city.
Following a bilateral meeting with his Mexican counterpart Enrique Peña Nieto, the Peruvian leader underlined the said accord paves the way for the development of the two nations’ common future.
“Mexico and Peru have a common history for having overcoming similar issues to reach a democratic republic whose aim is to take part of major international events and gain access to the global market and whose voice is most value in the international community,” he said.
The two leaders went on to point out the two countries’ economic ties will be strengthened through the several deals and commitments undertaken within the framework the Trade Integration Agreement.
“As comprehensive strategic cooperative partners, the scheme benefits populations in both South American countries in a reliable and transparent legal framework,” the head of State noted.
Finally, both Presidents stressed the Pacific Alliance is great opportunity to continue with a deep integration based on the free market as growth engine which drives economic sustainable development.
