President of Peru, Jose Jeri, emphasized today that the meeting with Chilean President-elect Jose Antonio Kast will lay the groundwork for strengthening ties of friendship and integration with that country.

Upon receiving Kast at the Government Palace, he stated that the relationship with Chile constitutes a State policy for Peru, which is based on deep historical ties of friendship, economic relations, and cooperation.

The head of state also agreed with the Chilean president-elect on the fight against transnational organized crime and on cooperating to curb irregular migration affecting both countries.

He also emphasized the challenge of continuing to promote trade, investment, and tourism, as well as joint initiatives within the framework of the Pacific Alliance and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

“I am convinced that this first meeting will lay the groundwork for the challenges we face together and allow us to continue strengthening ties and integration, with the development and well-being of our countries as our guiding principles,” said President Jeri after expressing his support for continuing the binational cabinet meetings between Peru and Chile.

The Peruvian president also wished José Antonio Kast success and a successful administration, convinced that this is a key opportunity for Peru and Chile to take their bilateral relationship to the next level.

“We are fully prepared to work together (…) We are united by our commitment to development,” he pointed out.
