Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) Party leader Keiko Fujimori has reiterated her position in favor of holding early general elections as a way out of the political crisis in the country, but ruled out the possibility of running as presidential candidate if said public vote is held.

At a meeting with the group's activists and leaders held on Sunday in Piura, Fujimori Higuchi affirmed that Peruvians deserve the holding of early elections for overcoming the political crisis.

"Despite the possibility of running as candidate, I also think that I have to wait, because I do not want to become another factor or an excuse for leftist groups to continue to blame me," the Fuerza Popular leader stated.

Afterwards, via Twitter, she reiterated her position in favor of early elections and regarding the participation of Fuerza Popular in the next race, in which she will not run as presidential candidate.

Similarly, Keiko Fujimori spoke in favor of the fact that there are other people who can secure a significant political representation.

"I also believe, as leader of the largest political party in the country, that we have other people who can represent us well. Our country comes first, Peruvians come first," she remarked.
