Peru: Justice System Reform Council meets at Government Palace

The Council for Justice System Reform met at the Government Palace in Lima on Monday to hold a session chaired by the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte.

This was the 14th ordinary session held by the aforementioned body.

National Justice Board Chairman Antonio de la Haza; Comptroller General Cesar Aguilar; Constitutional Court Chairwoman Luz Pacheco; Congress Head Eduardo Salhuana; Attorney General Juan Carlos Villena; and Ombudsman Josue Gutierrez participated in the event.

The Council's aim is to coordinate the implementation of policies relating to the justice system.

Its objectives include monitoring the implementation and execution of the said system's reform process.

In this regard, an annual report on the progress made in the work that has been assigned must be submitted.

Creation and technical council

The creation of this council was made official by Law No. 30942 issued in May 2019.

Its technical council is made up of the Public Ministry-Prosecutor's Office; the Ministries of Justice-Human Rights, Economy-Finance, and Interior; the Congress of the Republic; the National Justice Board; the Constitutional Court; the Academy for Magistrates; the National Elections Board; and a representative of the farming patrols chosen from among their regional chairs.
