The Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) reported that an alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAOR) Structure 48 from Colombia was neutralized following a confrontation with the Amazon Operational Command on the Yaguas River in Putumayo province, Loreto region.

"An alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAOR) E-48 was neutralized following a river operation by our Amazon Operational Command on the Yaguas River in the Putumayo province, Loreto," the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) reported on X.

It was indicated that Peruvian military personnel located a hovercraft carrying a group of people, who ignored the order to stop and opened fire on the law enforcement agents.

However, the swift response of the armed forces repelled the attack, forcing the assailants to flee.

During their escape, they abandoned their boat, where the lifeless body of an unidentified man was found.

At the site, two assault rifles, 1,200 rounds of ammunition, a satellite communication device, 7,000 Colombian pesos, five backpacks, and two fuel containers were also seized.

In the message posted on X, the Peruvian Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to defending national sovereignty and ensuring security in the Peruvian Amazon.

The Residual Organized Armed Groups (GAOR) are armed groups that emerged following the demobilization process of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in 2016.

Those groups did not accept the peace agreements signed with the State and continued operating as armed factions.
