The staging of Inti Raymi 2024 —to be held on Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park esplanade on June 24 (Cusco City Day)— will last approximately one hour, the Municipal Company for Celebrations and Promotion of Cusco (Emufec) has announced.

Emufec is in charge of organizing the Inca ceremony.

Its Chairman, Rosendo Baca, confirmed that the staging will be streamlined this 2024 and reduced compared to last year's edition, which lasted two hours and 20 minutes.

"There is absolutely no modification being made to the content registered in our Inti Raymi (Sun Festival); activities are being worked on concurrently on substantive matters, not in form," Baca stated in relation to maintaining the established script —as tradition mandates.

This reduction in presentation time would also occur in the first two staging events, such as at Qoricancha Inca Temple and the Main Square (Hawkaypata), but they would not be as significant, except in Sacsayhuaman.

Baca also confirmed that for this new Inti Raymi edition, 900 people will perform —200 more than last year— who have already been rehearsing for one month and a half.

The purpose of streamlining the Inca ritual and increasing the number of artists will be to delight nearly 200,000 Cusco residents and tourists —domestic and foreign ones— who are expected to arrive at Qoricancha, the Main Square, and Sacsayhuaman.

Therefore, Baca mentioned that Cusco residents who promote tourism and economic reactivation have to be motivated, at least those who offer services related to sectors such as accommodation, restaurants, transportation, among others.

The Emufec chairman reported that the institution is moving forward with more than 150 festive activities in honor of this metropolis, including cultural, artistic, religious, sports, academic activities, and others.

Among the most captivating ones are dance parades in the historic center, conducted in accordance with Plan Sol (Sun Plan), which ensures safety, order, and cleanliness.
