Less than two months after starting its work, the
eradicated 3,012.78 hectares of illicit coca leaf crops in Ucayali, Huanuco, and Pasco regions.
According to Corah's latest report, these works were carried out on 1,142 plots of the operational axes of Constitucion in Puerto Inca province (Huanuco region); and Tamaya in Coronel Portillo province (Ucayali region).
As a result of these actions against the criminal drug trafficking chain, the production of 28.14 metric tons of cocaine hydrochloride was prevented. It represents a progress of 12.5% towards the annual goal set at 25,000 hectares of illegal crops.
These actions by the Corah Project specialists team rely on the support Peruvian National Police Anti-Drug Directorate members, whose joint work have also made it possible to locate and destroy so far five rustic illegal drug production laboratories.
The elimination of illegal coca leaf crops is part of the National Anti-Drug Policy by 2030, led by the Interior sector, headed by Minister Walter Ortiz.
As is known, Ortiz stressed that the program's objective is "to reduce the chain of production and illicit trade of narcotics in the country, a task on which we will continue to work strongly."
