The weather events taking place from January 6 to date have left a total of 6,405 victims and 47,996 affected, the
National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) has said.
This information was provided as it reported on the impact of those events as a consequence of heavy rains.
Yañez explained that the regions with the highest incidence of emergencies are: Ayacucho (389), Huancavelica (199), Huanuco (112), Apurimac (108), Arequipa (77), Cusco (72), Cajamarca (72), Lima (58), and Ancash (53).
Also in the list are Junin with 50 emergencies, Pasco (44), La Libertad (43), Piura (42), Amazonas (33), Moquegua (23), Puno (21), Ica (18), Ucayali (17), Tumbes (14), Loreto (13), San Martin (12), Madre de Dios (12), Tacna (10), Lambayeque 2, and Callao (2).
Based on the type of emergency, Yañez stated that 984 have been caused by heavy rains, 118 by rough weather, 115 by floods, 106 by hailstorms, 83 by mudslides, 64 by landslides, 21 by the collapse of hills, 10 by electric storms, 1 by snowfall, and 4 by other factors.
Likewise, he reported that 683 districts have been declared in emergency, 378 of which face an imminent threat and 305 a disaster.
Housing, education, and health
Afterwards, when referring to the damages caused to houses, the official pointed out that 667 homes are destroyed, 2,077 uninhabitable, and 22,546 affected.
Concerning infrastructure, 54 classrooms are destroyed, 396 affected, and 120 uninhabitable, whereas 64 health establishments are affected and two are destroyed.
Similarly, 9.63 kilometers of potable water network are destroyed and 15.576 kilometers are affected. In addition, 7.53 kilometers of sewage network are destroyed and 14.66 kilometers are affected.
Regarding agriculture and livestock, he indicated that 22,624 hectares of crops are affected and 10,023 hectares are lost, while 48,352 animals are affected and 7,110 are lost.
