The 2021-2022 grape exports campaign started in a favorable way, totaling US$81.85 million in October 2021, up 7.4% compared to the same month in 2020, when the sales amounted to US$76.24 million, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) has reported.

The main markets for Peruvian grapes were the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States, which together accounted for 66% of the total.

Other destinations included South Korea, Spain, Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Russia, out of a total of 32.

The markets that experienced the highest growth —those in the top 10— were South Korea (US$3.67 million; up 255%), Germany (US$2.66 million; up 56%), and Spain (US$3.22 million; up 54%).

It should be pointed out that, in 2020, Peru became the world's second largest grape exporter, after China.

According to a report by the Global Business and Economy Research Center (Cien-Adex), China's grape exports grew 22.8% to US$1.212 billion, accounting for 13.6% of total exports, while Peru's sales rose 22.1% to US$991.10 million, representing 11.1% of the total.

On the other hand, exports of Peruvian grapes amounted to US$610.38 million between January and October 2021, up 23.7% over the same period in 2020 (US$493.62 million).

Moreover, it is worth noting that grape exports took third place in the agro-export supply ranking, after blueberries and avocados.
