The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday told the leaders of the Alto Tamaya-Saweto native community, in the Ucayali region, that her government will address their needs for protection, development, and procurement of justice in the face of the murder —in 2014— of four of their leaders, who defended their territories from illegal exploitation of natural resources.

The Head of State, along with eight ministers of State, received the head of the aforementioned community, Andres Arevalo Perez, as well as Ergilia Rengifo Lopez and Julia Perez Gonzales —two of the widows of the murdered leaders, at the Government Palace.

The event also featured representatives of the European Union and the embassies of Finland, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Canada, Belgium, and Poland.

"Together with State ministers, we will obtain results in the shortest time possible," she said.

The actions to be carried out include the payment of surviving spouse's and orphan's pensions, as well as the provision of educational and labor support for adult orphans.

Measures will also be taken to ensure security in the area. Additionally, productive sanitation infrastructure, transportation, and electrification projects will be undertaken for the community.

Boluarte lamented that previous governments have not made progress in seeking the well-being and development of Alto Tamaya-Saweto.

"You are not alone. You are not second level people. We will enforce these commitments. This is a Government of actions, not of words, and even less of false hopes," the President said.
