Over this week, the Government has sent almost 30 tons of humanitarian aid, in the form of basic necessities, to the
region of Ancash, which will be distributed among the population that has been recently affected by weather phenomena in the country.
Prime Minister Alberto Otarola led the initiative, which consisted of the delivery of food such as rice, quinoa, noodles, beans, peas, lentils, oil, and sugar.
The aim is to assist mainly the most vulnerable population. Items such as tents, lanterns, sheets, among other things, will be distributed as well.
"We are providing support for the entire region of Ancash. Nearly 30 tons of food aid have been shipped; today we are bringing 6 tons," the head of the Ministerial Cabinet stated.
Inspection trip
The cargo was shipped to Chimbote in flights operated by the Peruvian Army and Air Force and then moved by land to the places where it is needed the most.
"We have given instructions that Provias Nacional bring the necessary machinery, unblock roads, and create an airlift to provide access to basic needs such as health care and food in the areas that have been isolated," the Prime Minister remarked.
In addition, the Cabinet chief highlighted the cooperation between the
Transportation-Communications Ministry and private companies to restore vehicular access on the Sechin bridge in Casma.
