The Peruvian Government promotes the expansion of the Armed Forces' industrial capabilities, as well as the transfer of knowledge and technology, President Dina Boluarte affirmed.

On Monday evening, Mrs. Boluarte participated in the signing ceremony of an agreement between Peru's Army Weapons and Ammunition Factory (FAME S.A.C.) and South Korea's STX Corporation-Hyundai Rotem company.

Thanks to this agreement, a vehicle assembly plant will be set up at the FAME headquarters in Lima's Lurigancho district, where a wide range of cutting-edge special units will be produced.

"By this means, we reaffirm our total commitment to security, defense, and national sovereignty, boosting our military industry," she indicated.

The Head of State thanked the Korean industry for its trust and invited foreign companies to continue investing in Peru.

On May 2, FAME reported that —after a rigorous evaluation process of technical and economic proposals— the Selection Committee of the International Private Tender No. 001-2024 awarded the contract to bidder STX Corporation-Hyundai Rotem to establish the "Strategic Alliance Agreement for the Development of Special Military Vehicles" under the joint venture partnership model.

The selection of STX Corporation-Hyundai Rotem was carried out in strict compliance with Peruvian regulations and FAME's legal framework, which allows it to establish strategic alliances with the defense industry's technological sector leaders.

FAME General Manager, Army Colonel Jorge Zapata Vargas, underscored that, through this agreement, the company seeks "to contribute to the development of Peru's defense industry, with high technology, based on transparency and legality."
