on Monday presented a portfolio of 22 irrigation projects involving a total investment of US$24.061 billion, which will be promoted by the Government.
"In this portfolio we are presenting, there are 22 projects worth more than US$24 billion, which are added to the previously registered portfolio," he stated.
The government official indicated that this irrigation project portfolio will allow for the expansion of the agricultural frontier by up to 1,084,921 hectares and will improve irrigation for 278,871 hectares.
"Among the key figures these projects will contribute, there will be an expansion of more than 1,084,000 hectares of the agricultural frontier, and irrigation will be improved for approximately 270,000 hectares," he noted.
The Cabinet member highlighted that this irrigation project portfolio will generate 2,392,350 new jobs and will boost agro-exports by US$31.928 billion.
"Our projection is the creation of more than 2.3 million jobs, and most importantly, agro-exports would increase by more than US$31 billion," he stated.
Minister Salardi pointed out that more than 85% of the irrigation project portfolio will be executed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
"It is important to highlight that for this identified portfolio, more than 85% will be implemented through public-private partnerships, benefiting 14 regions across the coast, highlands, and jungle," Salardi stressed.
"We have been working intensively together with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation and the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) to identify all the mapped irrigation projects, and we believe we will secure their awarding before the current government ends," he added.
